FPTV (EP 287) MOVING HOME IN 2026? 15 Things to Think About and Prepare

Moving home is a major life moment that requires equal parts strategy and soul-searching, and the key to success lies in how much thought and preparation go into making such a big decision.

Whether you’re wondering whether to stay put and improve, how to attract the best buyer, or when’s the right time to sell, breaking the process down into manageable steps keeps the overwhelm in check.

Over many years of selling homes and across every price range, we’ve noticed how so many homeowners ask exactly the same questions and share the same concerns.

With that in mind, estate agents Sophie Gibbens and Perrie McIntosh have created this guide to help you navigate the journey ahead.

The Myth of the “Kind” Fife Landlord

Many Fife rental problems do not start with bad landlords or difficult tenants.

In Fife, as in many areas across the country, they usually start with good intentions and silence. Silence about rent reviews. Silence about maintenance. Silence about what happens when life changes.

Let me give you a scenario I see more often than people realise.

It’s a story of a tenant who moved into a two-bedroom terraced house in Leven in 2016. At the time, the rent was a very fair £490 per calendar month. It reflected the market, the condition of the home, and the local demand. Lettings Agent Richard Cook is on hand to discuss how both landlord and tenant felt comfortable with the arrangement and the relationship was positive from day one.
