EP 242: The Wealth Creation Show: The Bigger Picture

The decisions we make at an individual level are influenced by much larger economic forces, while the collective decisions of investors, governments, lenders and consumers ultimately shape the markets we operate in.

There is a relationship between the micro — the individual investor, their property, finances, decisions and returns — and the macro — interest rates, inflation, government policy, employment, global investment and the direction of the wider economy.

At the micro level, we’re looking at individual investments, financial decisions, property values and rental income. At the macro level, we’re considering the bigger picture of interest rates, inflation, government policy and global economic conditions.

The interesting thing is that these two worlds are constantly interacting. If you are a property investor in Scotland, you may understand the local market perfectly but still be affected by decisions made hundreds or thousands of miles away.

Luckily, you don’t need to head back to school to understand this as Lettings Director, Richard Cook and one of the UK’s most successful property investors, Jim Parker are on hand to discuss.
